Age Group Self-Certification (Q1 2024)

When Meta Quest lowered the minimum age for its accounts from 13 to 10, developers of Meta Quest games and apps had to take additional steps to help ensure a safe and age-appropriate experience in order to remain in the Meta Quest Store.

All Meta Quest developers were required to choose an intended age group for their apps and communicate that intention to Meta by completing Age Group Self-Certification on the Meta Quest Developer Platform.

However, developers found the initial messaging confusing and ambiguous. As the Content Designer for data privacy and integrity oversight within the Meta Quest Developer Platform, I was tasked with refining this content post-launch to improve clarity and help developers achieve compliance with this new requirement.

Here’s some content I wrote for this project. I’m happy to provide a more detailed walk-through in an interview setting.
